Requirements:
- Python; Preferably with some Django experience
- Great grasp of software design and architecture
- Understanding of performance and design tradeoffs, without compromising quality

Have the chance to turn your product vision into consumer reality.
HighlightCam is looking to redefine mobile video. A Y Combinator company, we have the world's first cloud-powered automated editing app for mobile devices. Basically, you can select videos/photos on your phone and our AI senses the most important scenes and edits them together automatically. Cool huh?
We just raised our Series A and are actively looking to expand our team. We've also been lucky enough to get space at 500Startups in downtown Mountain View, so we have literally the best view in the valley. We have partnered with some of the world's largest telecom carriers and need a designer who can help bring our product to the next level to meet the massive number of new users we will soon be bringing in. This position is for the design lead who will own the vision and shape how our product looks and feels for years to come.
The designer will report to the CEO and will be responsible for all designs and the overall look of all of the products (Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, PC/Mac). This person will also be able to influence the product not only through UI improvements, but utilizing user input to define the feature set too.
There are definite design challenges here.
- Making video is a complex process, but we strive to simplify the process tremendously and do it within the confines of a mobile device screen.
- Our vision has to reach across multiple platforms, both mobile and PC/Mac, and still have that same consistent look/feel. Brand consistency is key.
- We also have to be quick. Our competitors are out there, so we need to quickly and effectively get our designs out to market.
This position would (ideally) be a full-time role with an experienced person, but the most important thing here isn't just the wealth of experience that the candidate brings, but the type of person they are and their ability. They have to love working with intelligent and creative people, love working/thinking outside of the box, and want to get in on the ground level of a startup that will literally redefine how we evaluate movies in a social setting. As it is a startup, the job won't be a strict 9-5 and we have flexible hours and atmosphere. Beer Fridays might be a possibility at some point if there's enough interest.
